Jiangsu receives 14 million tourists in New Year’s Day holiday
East China’s Jiangsu province received 14.2166 million tourists and recorded a total tourism revenue of 17.178 billion yuan during the New Year’s Day holiday, up 122.6% and 126.9% year-on-year.
According to UnionPay Business data, Jiangsu recorded a total cultural and tourism consumption of 7.8 billion yuan, accounting for 10.79% of the national total, ranking first in the country.
Cultural and tourism spots, popular attractions, cultural and museum venues, and theme parks turned out to be the primary choices for tourists. Rural vacation, homestay leisure, intangible cultural heritage experience, technological ecology, and ice and snow hot springs have become highlights of the New Year’s Day holiday. New Year's fireworks shows and concerts are highly popular while and red tourism continues to heat up.
During the New Year’s Day holiday, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism launched 1246 cultural and tourism activities with 34 characteristic themed activities held at major provincial-level cultural and museum venues.
17 scenic spots in Suqian have launched a series of practical measures, including half price and New Year's Day special offers, to facilitate more tourists.
“We have invited various exhibitions, and sales of intangible cultural heritage techniques and dynamic intangible cultural heritages in order to further promote the excellent traditional culture of our region and allow the general public to experience rich and profound cultural heritage inheritance,” said Dong Hua, Deputy Director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of Suqian Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism.
