The 2020 “China Telecom Hello 5G” Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race will kick off at Moonlight Pier on June 25.
The race has been held for 10 consecutive years since 2010 and has become one of the most representative festival celebrations in SIP and in Suzhou. As part of the “Shared Joy in Jiangsu” series which also features talent shows, music festivals and cultural trips, it helps promote the province’s diversification and internationalization.
A total of 56 teams consisting of 1,168 people will compete in the race which features three events: the 300m Men Straight Speed Race (12-people Boat), the 300m Women Straight Speed Race (12-people Boat), and the 300m Open Straight Speed Race (22-people Boat). There will be 6 teams of expatriates with 108 athletes from 15 countries like France, Germany, Russia and Brazil.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the organizing committee has made some special arrangements for this year’s race. “It will be live streamed online, via multiple platforms such as Douyin, Kuaishou, Bilibili and Watermelon video. People are advised to watch the race online and experience the new charm of this traditional sports event,” said a person in charge of the organizing committee.
