A movie based on the life story of Wang Jicai, the late head of a militia post on a tiny remote island in the China’s Yellow Sea, premiered Tuesday to serve as a warm-up for the nationwide release on June 18.

An Island Sentry, the movie shot by Bayi Film Studio and Jiangsu Omnijoi Pictures Co., Ltd., is adapted from the touching story of Wang Jicai, who was honored both as a National Outstanding CPC Member and National Role Model of the Times, after his death in 2018.

Directed by Chen Li and starring Liu Ye and Gong Zhe, the movie tells of the Wang Jicai and his wife Wang Shuhua.

Wang Jicai, former head of the militia post on Kaishan Island in east China's Jiangsu Province, died of sudden illness when on duty on July 27, 2018 after spending 32 years guarding an island post, assisted by his wife Wang Shihua.

The audience said that they were inspired by the affection between Wang Jicai and Wang Shihua, and their strong sense of responsibility and mission in guarding the territory was even more admirable.

Audience I was deeply impressed by Wang Shihua. As a woman she followed her husband  to guard the island for 32 years and dedicated her life.

We should all learn  from her this unwavering spirit.Whether it’s the harsh environment of the island’s violent storms, huge waves, or the repetition of flag raising and sentry for decades, every detail in the film vividly reflects Wang Jicai’s and Wang Shihua’s commitment and dedication to the country.

Audience I was moved by the story of Wang Jicai We must learn from Wang Jicai in particular his commitment and dedication to the country .
