East China’s Jiangsu province will make unremitting efforts to build ecologically livable and beautiful villages during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and continue to improve the quality of Jiangsu's rural living environment, according to a document issued by the General Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the General Office of the Provincial Government.
Jiangsu will give full play to the role of 20 counties or county-level cities, 200 townships or sub-district offices, and 2,000 administrative villages to promote the improvement and demonstration of rural living environment, and ensure that by the end of 2025, the province will have improved the rural living environment and remarkable achievements have been made in the construction of ecologically livable and beautiful villages.
Focusing on the construction goal of ecologically livable and beautiful villages, Jiangsu will strengthen the foundation of village construction, improve the quality of life of farmers, and protect the rural texture
Jiangsu will continue to promote the revolution of rural toilets, domestic sewage treatment, domestic waste treatment, and comprehensive improvement of rural water environment to meet the needs of farmers for modern lifestyles.
Efforts will be made to explore the elements of rural characteristics, and encourage qualified areas to simultaneously develop new industries and new formats such as agriculture, leisure, sightseeing and tourism in the process of improving the rural living environment while strive to build 1,000 characteristic rural villages by 2025, and effectively protect about 1,000 provincial-level traditional villages and traditional building groups.
On this basis, efforts will be made to dig deep into the local characteristic rural culture, establish a group of farming experience bases, education bases and cultural centers with strong popular science, and promote the inheritance and development of rural culture.
