East China’s Jiangsu province recorded a railway construction investment of 36 billion yuan in the first half of this year, reaching a historic high. The accelerated railway construction has played a significant role in stabilizing investment and promoting growth, and made positive contributions to consolidating the overall improvement trend of economic operation.
The test train of the Shanghai-Nanjing Yangtze River high-speed railway recently ran at a test target speed of 385 kilometers per hour. At the same time, all high-speed railway stations, as new landmarks along the line, have been completed, ensuring that the line is put into operation in September.
“As the largest station on the Shanghai-Nanjing Yangtze River high-speed railway, station building decoration and electromechanical installation project of the Jiangyin Station were completed in the first half of the year to pave the way for the ongoing equipment debugging. A modern high-speed railway station with strong local characteristics has been fully built”, An Yi, On-site manager of China Railway Construction Group Jiangyin Station, said.
Jiangsu accelerated railway construction in the first half of the year, providing strong support for expanding domestic demand, stabilizing growth, and ensuring people's livelihoods. The Hongze-Jinhu double track super large bridge is a key project of the Nanjing-Huai'an Inter-city rail. Over the past four months of construction, significant progress has been made in the construction of the 2.5-kilometer line.
“Since the start of construction in March, we have completed all the construction of the main trestle and poured 384 pile foundations. We plan to complete the pouring of the lower structure of all pile foundation caps by the end of the year”, Wang Yuanzheng, Deputy Manager of the Second Division of Nanjing Huai’an Inter-city rail Project of China Railway 16th Bureau, said.
On June 30th, Nanjing kicked off the construction of the Shangyuanmen Yangtze River Railway Tunnel, marking the comprehensive opening of the underwater shield tunnel, which is currently the most difficult tunnel in terms of construction with the longest rock excavation distance at home and abroad.
Jiangsu is steadily advancing the preparations for the Weifang-Suqian Railway, Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing Railway, Changzhou-Taixing Railway, and Hefei-Suqian Railway. Meanwhile, Jiangsu is accelerating the construction of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway, Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway, and Phase II of Shanghai-Nantong Railway.
In the first half of the year, Jiangsu recorded a railway construction investment of 36.349 billion yuan, accounting for 66% of the annual investment plan and 2.27 times the investment amount in the first half of last year, setting a record high for the same period in history.
In the first half of the year, Jiangsu sent off 128 million railway passengers, up 13.2% from 2019, accounting for 49.3% of the province's total passenger volume.
In the Yangtze River Delta region, Jiangsu ranks first in terms of railway passenger volume and growth rate. In the first half of the year, Jiangsu operated 1095 Eurasian freight trains, up 7.8% year-on-year.
