A batch of raw amber stones imported from Russia was cleared by Nanjing Customs at Nanjing Lukou International Airport, July 24. It was the first time the Nanjing Port handled import customs clearance of amber.
This batch of raw amber stones, with a gross weight of 35 tons and value of 81.2 million yuan ($12.02 million), was imported from Russia by a company in Changzhou by chartered airplane.
“After collecting all certificates and documents needed for import, the company can declare nationwide integration of customs clearance procedures by using its own computer. Customs will review the certificates and documents via the background system in advance, which can save time for the company’s customs clearance,” an officer working at Nanjing Customs said. Considering that customs reviews the certificates and documents in advance, it can head for the freight depot to carry out customs clearance and check as per the check order sent by the system after the goods arrive at the airport.
