A few days ago, the Ministry of Culture announced the recommendation list of the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage inheritors. A total of 47 inheritors in Jiangsu Province, including Zhou Dongliang, a famous Wuxi Opera performer, were selected.
The Ministry of Culture has carried out the application and evaluation work to strengthen the construction of intangible cultural heritage inheritors’ team and to protect and pass on national intangible heritage projects. Based on local recommendations, experts from each Review Panel evaluated the applicants, and initiated a list of 1, 113 inheritors. Among them, 827 inheritors have not yet been designated as national representative inheritors before, and the other 286 inheritors have been designated as national representative inheritors in the past. The Ministry of Culture will announce the final list later this week when the 20-day publicity period ends.
In the list, Jiangsu has a total of 47 people enlisted, covering areas of Guqin, Beijing Opera, Wuxi Opera, Dragon Dance, Nanjing Baiju Opera and etc. Unfortunately, Huang Xiaoci, a well-known Beijing Opera performer, who has been selected this time, has died.
