"Charms of Gold & Jade – Exhibition of Gold, Silver and Jade Artifacts of Song and Ming Dynasties Unearthed in Nanjing " is held on the second floor of Huai’an Museum starting from January 19th to March 4th.
Gold, silver and jade artifacts are the important parts of the Nanjing Museum’s Collection. Most of the collections were found in the tombs of the founding fathers and powerful families in Song Dynasty. These funerary objects are of noble materials, exquisite workmanship, unique shapes and varied styles. From cups to plates, hairpins to ribbons, they are all beautiful and luxurious, reflecting the elegant and exquisite life styles of princes and nobles in Song and Ming dynasties.
The exhibition is divided into 4 parts: "Jewelry and Belts", "Ornaments", "Delicates", "Coins for the Departed". Many of the 84 pieces from Nanjing Museum are classic works, and the 21 pieces from Huai'an Museum are also extremely rare.
