On the night of Jan. 27, a team of three international students kept serving hot water to some 250 sweepers, urban patrol officers and police officers, who were sweeping snow from the roads and the paths.
The three students, Ali Qadir, Ahmed Mansoor from Pakistan, and Louis Sivina from Papua New Guinea are all From Compassion To Action (FCTA) members. All the disposable cups used in this campaign were funded by their pocket money.
FCTA is a volunteering group of international students in Nanjing. Since 2016, it has been organizing and contributing in different volunteering and public welfare projects in Nanjing and other cities of Jiangsu province. FCTA works in cooperation with different local and international volunteering and welfare organizations of Nanjing, such as the International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences (AIESEC), Jiangsu Children Welfare Foundation, China Council of Lions and others.
They kept working the whole night to approach the target, which was achieved amazingly. It is also part of the project of Human4Human, a public welfare project which deals with the helping and assisting the sweepers and other public volunteers during the natural disaster and other emergency cases.
