Chefs from Suzhou’s famous Songhelou Restaurant will participate the Taupo Winter Cultural Festival that will be held in New Zealand this July, presenting the traditional dish “Squirrel Mandarin Fish”.
The dish’s material has nothing to do with real squirrels. It’s named this way because the sound is quite like squirrels’ sound when the hot sauce is put on the fish.
2018 marks the 10th anniversary of Suzhou and Taupo’s sister city bond. Taupo invited Suzhou to participate the Winter Cultural Festival that will be held from July 15th, 2018 to July 18th, 2018 last November. Chefs from Songhelong Restaurant will make Suzhou dishes to introduce Suzhou’s dining culture to people in New Zealand.
The journey to New Zealand this time came after last year's “Chinese Food Festival” in Latvia, where local people were amazed by the delicacy of Suzhou dishes.
