Changzhou City in Jiangsu Province held a meeting to promote graphene industry development on April 9, when five graphene projects agreed to settle down in the city’s Wujin District.
Graphene, nicknamed "black gold" and "king of new material", is the thinnest and strongest nanomaterial that can most efficiently conduct heat and electricity.
The Administrative Committee of Xitaihu S&T Industrial Zone, also known as Wujin’s economic development zone, signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Jiangsu Economic Research Center of Xinhua News Agency’s China Economic Information Service, and the Technology Transfer Center of CAS Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics. Professor Feng Guanping, a pioneer of China’s graphene industry, was hired to be the chief advisor for Changzhou’s effort to become a stronghold in the sector as well as the honorary president of the Jiangnan Graphene Research Institute.
Wujin District, home to Changzhou’s graphene industry, started planning the sector’s development in 2011, and has developed itself into a leading zone featuring a cluster of key graphene companies, extensive applications of graphene products, innovative strengths and good ecology. Changzhou’s Graphene S&T Industrial Park is the only graphene hi-tech transfer base and business incubator in China, while the Graphene Town has been included in the province’s first “25 featured towns” list.
The zone has attracted over 30 start-up teams with leading and innovative graphene technology, gathered 130 companies in the industry, and created ten results all ranking the No. 1 in the world.
