East China’s Jiangsu province launched a wide variety of activities to mark the annual session of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to remind people to say no to drugs.

Drug sniffing dogs were gathered Tuesday morning in Nanjing from across the province to be engaged in a anti-narcotic mock drill.

A drug trafficker murdered his mate and run away with drugs and money. Drug sniffing dogs were ordered to hunt down on the drugs and finally tracked down the suspect who refused to surrender before he was seized by the assaults from the sniffing dogs.

30 sniffing dogs will be dispatched to the regional police squads across the province after undergoing a four-month-long training.

Courts at all levels in the province dealt with 5557 drug cases last year with 5612 cases sentenced, a gain of 2.4% and 4.8% from a year ago, the provincial higher court said.

In the meantime, the Provincial Narcotics Control Commission issued a circular Monday to reward a maximum of RMB 200,000 to those who tip the police off on drug trafficking and drug abuse and lead to the solving of major drug crime cases. The move is the latest effort made by the law enforcement forces in Jiangsu to severely crack down on major drug crimes in accordance with the law, mobilize all sectors of society and the broad masses of the people to actively participate in the fight against drugs.
