Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met last Friday in Nanjing with Cao Shumin, Chancellor of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Lou Qinjian thanked Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics for its support to Jiangsu's development before briefing the guests on the economic and social development of the province, especially the transformation and development of the manufacturing industry.
He said that at present Jiangsu is following the requirements of the high-quality development proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping by vigorously gathering various resource elements, accelerating the adjustment of industrial structure, and striving to build a modern and controllable industrial system.
To build an independent and controllable industrial system, we must firmly grasp the core technology in our own hands through technological innovation, Lou said, adding that this requires us to gather more scientific and technological resources through institutional innovation and development environment, and strengthen cooperation with research institutes and universities.
He hoped that Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics will deploy more advantageous scientific research resources to Jiangsu based on the cooperation with the campus of Suzhou High-tech Zone, deepen the cooperation in the fields of electronic information, new materials, aerospace and other fields and encourage more excellent talents to make innovative business startups in Jiangsu for the growth of a highland for industrial development.
Cao Shumin said that Jiangsu has a solid manufacturing base, rich human resources and a strong innovation atmosphere. Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics attaches great importance to its cooperation with industry, academia and research institutes in Jiangsu, adding that the university will give full play to its advantages, highlight its key areas, make innovative cooperation mechanisms, further expand the cooperation and help promote the province’s high-quality development.
