Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met Wednesday in Nanjing with Iwaki Hitoshi, speaker of the Osaka Prefectural Assembly of Japan.
Lou said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship, making the visit of the Osaka Prefectural Assemblydelegation of special significance.
He said Jiangsu, as an important province along the eastern coast of China, is currently promoting economic transformation and upgrading and high-quality development by deepening reform and opening up, strengthening innovation drive and improving the ecological environment.
The CPC Provincial Chief said the Osaka Prefecture and Jiangsu Province have strong economic complementarities with cooperation space, especially in promoting industrial upgrading and strengthening ecological and environmental protection.
He reviewed the history of Japanese companies' investment and development in China before pointing out that the promotion of exchanges and cooperation between the business community and various fields rests with constant persistence.
Lou, who is also head of the provincial legislature, hoped that the two sides will jointly create favorable conditions and promote the further development of friendly cooperation between the two regions.
Mr. Iwaki said that he is very pleased to visit Jiangsu on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Japanese treaty of peace and friendship.
He expressed his admiration for the achievements Jiangsu has made in the process of its development.
The Osaka Prefecture Assembly is willing to play a greater role in strengthening pragmatic cooperation and promoting friendly exchanges between the two regions, he said.
