A symposium on presentation and representation of Chinese culture going global was hosted in Nanjing Normal University, Xianlin campus Saturday. This symposium was to promote and review the periodical Chinese Arts and Letters which aims to represent Chinese cultures and literatures to the western world.
Hosted in Nanjing Normal University, Xianlin campus, this symposium welcomed the presence of officials from Information Office of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, famous scholars, translators and writers from home and abroad. Yan Zhijun, dean of school of foreign languages of NNU, delivered a speech on the development and the contribution Chinese arts and letters, or CAL, has brought to the communication between the English world and the Chinese.

Edited by Jiangsu literature translation and Research Center based in NNU, CAL began its first publication in 2013. Currently focusing on the works by famous Jiangsu writers including Bi Feiyu, Su Tong, and Lu Min and presenting their translated works, the periodical is to promote Chinese literature to the English world. The translators on staff are either native speakers of English or bilingual writers who have lived abroad for a long time.
