Nanjing City made it to China’s Happiest City list for the tenth time, according to the 2018 China Happiness City Forum held in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province on November 26.
The top ten happiest cities on the list are Nanjing, Chengdu, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Changsha, Taizhou, Tongchuan and Zhuhai. The selection has been held for 12 consecutive years and is currently a highly influential and credible city survey in China.
In 2017, Nanjing demarcated the red line for ecological protection area, made smooth progress in soil restoration, and developed more than 2,000 square kilometers of area for beautiful countryside demonstration. The city also completed a number of key ecological projects, added 99 green amusement parks and 562.6 kilometers of new green roads, finished afforestation of 100,000 mu (6,667 hectares), and improved the urban green coverage rate and forest coverage rate to reach 44.8 percent and 29.9 percent respectively.
