According to the results of a survey published by the Jiangsu Provincial Reading Office on July 25 this year, the comprehensive reading rate of Nanjing residents was 95.63%, ranking first in the whole province for five consecutive years. Household study (bookcase, bookshelf) ownership rate is 80.59%, also ranking first in the province.

  

  In order to meet the diversified demands of reading, Nanjing Public Library actively introduces Internet technology and innovates the mode of book borrowing: from community library to automobile and subway library, from the 24-hour self-help library to the "Internet + Credit" platform, a paper book drifting through the city, carrying the beauty of reading to every corner of the city.

  At present, 14 public libraries in Nanjing have all reached the national standard of libraries, and 1,058 branches of public libraries have been set up at the municipal and district levels. There are 33 24-hour self-help book lending spaces, 25 24-hour mini-libraries and self-help borrowing machines. The complete set of hardware and software of "Good Reading " lets every citizen in Nanjing have the chance to enjoy reading.

  To provide more reading space, Nanjing Municipal Government actively expands the urban reading space while innovating the public libraries. More than 150 new reading spaces have been established in Nanjing City Walls, city parks, museums, Metros and other places.

  Recently, among the “50 best Jiangsu Bookshops” on the list, Nanjing enjoys 12 of them, ranking the first in the province. 10 public reading rooms in the scenic areas along the Ming Dynasty Wall greet around 60,000 citizens and tourists each year. Bookshops, creative shop, cafes, cultural halls, galleries, and other diversified forms of business in one, the reading places become a signature of Nanjing.

  292 "Book Stations" have a collection of more than 40,000 books of various kinds all over the city. No library card, no deposit, citizens can take the books they love home at one book station just by sweeping the QR code with their mobile phones and return them at any other book station at their convenience.
