Changzhou Airport's annual passenger throughput exceeded 3 million on Tuesday, marking a new breakthrough since it reached the 2-million mark last October.
Xuan Zhenhua, a resident of Changzhou, headed for Xi'an abroad a 12:45 flight Tuesday morning. He was totally unaware that he had become the 3 millionth passenger Changzhou International Airport has accommodated since early this year. Xuan said he flew every week because of business travels.
Changzhou Airport has maintained its leading position in the province since its opening thirty-three years ago. Among the 229 transportation airports in the country, its passenger throughput ranking increased from 61st in 2010 to 50th in 2017. It has also remained in the top 50 in terms of the cargo and mail throughput.
In September, Changzhou Airport Group Co., Ltd. was formally established and merged into the Eastern Airport Group. In the next step, Changzhou International Airport will start the fourth phase of the airport reconstruction and expansion project, continue to optimize the route layout, improve the service supporting facilities, and take the lead in building an integrated transportation system and serving the regional economic development.
