East China’s Jiangsu province will step up the improvement of healthcare service quality in 2019 by promoting medical reform to respond to the aging of the population and enhance the people’s sense of satisfaction and the sense of gain.
In 2019, Jiangsu will speed up the promotion of the hierarchical medical system, deepen the reform of public hospitals, strengthen the supply of medicines, jointly promote the reform of medical insurance payment methods, and add two provincial-level chest pain, stroke and trauma treatment centers to promote the in-depth development of medical reform.
The province will make greater efforts to strengthen health services for targeted people such as special treatment for low-income people with 30 major diseases that include childhood leukemia and congenital heart disease. The post-treatment and post-payment policy will be implemented to ensure timely treatment of all sick and low-income people.Medical and health institutions will be required to implement eye health and visual inspection tasks for children aged 0-6, establish visual health electronic files for 1 million kindergarten children, and provide a basic health check for 6 million people over 65 years old free of charge.
Talent is the key to strengthening the service capacity and quality of the medical and healthcare sectors. In 2019, the province plans to introduce more than one health innovation team, about 10 specially-appointed provincial medical experts, and about 20 doctoral graduates from world’s leading universities.
In order to make up for the shortage of health care resources at the grassroots communities, Jiangsu will arrange for the enrollment of 2,000 medical students for the rural areas and training of about 10,000 general practitioners within the year. it will also provide on-the-job training for 5,700 grassroots doctors and village doctors.
