Construction on the Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge in Zhenjiang is in full swing to ensure its delivery on schedule. As a key project of the Lianyungang-Zhenjiang Railway, the bridge is the third railway-highway bridge in the Jiangsu section of the Yangtze River after the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge and the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge.
The 6,409-meter-long Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge has a main span of 1,092 meters. The 4-track high-speed railway is designed with a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The two-way eight-lane highway is designed with a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
Being the first railway-highway suspension bridge in China, it is also the world's largest span railway bridge with the largest span, the fastest speed and the largest load.
With a span of more than one kilometer, the suspension bridge has stronger spanning ability and lower cost than the cable-stayed bridge, making it difficult to meet the comfort requirements of the high-speed rail. In the process of design and construction, the technical team achieved breakthroughs in the stability of the suspension bridge through material and standard breakthrough.
With the construction in full swing, the bridge is scheduled for operation in August 2020.
Upon its operation, the bridge will play an important role in promoting the construction of the Northern Jiangsu High-speed Railway Network, promoting the integration of the northern, central and southern parts of Jiangsu and accelerating the integration of the Yangtze River Delta.
