Social civilization assessment index in most parts of the provicnce showed a good momentum of steady growth, according to the 2018 Jiangsu Social Civilization Assessment Index released by the provincial office for ethic and cultural progress recently.
The evaluation index of social civilization in the province is 89.23, which is 1 percentage point higher than that in 2017. Among them, Wuxi City, Nantong City, Suqian City, Nanjing City and Taizhou City saw their social civilization evaluation indexes placed higehr than 90. Zhangjiagang City, Liyang City and Yixing City rank the top three county level cities in terms of the social civilization evaluation index.
The evaluation of social civilization index was made from November to December last year by the Provincial Office for ethical and cultural progress, the Jiangsu Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, and the Provincial Statistics Bureau through unannounced visits, questionnaires and other methods. The focus was laid on the public environment, public order, public services, moral construction, civilized fashion, humanistic care, and social governance. The evaluation targets 13 prefectural cities, 41 counties or county level cites and 22 districts.
The Social Civilization Assessment Index has been listed as the main indicator of Jiangsu's "13th Five-Year Plan" for economic and social development, and has been included in the "high-level index system for building a well-off society in Jiangsu Province". Last year, it was included in the province's high-quality development monitoring indicators with a clear inclusion of above 90 as the annual target value before 2020.
