Taizhou City’s GDP in 2018 reached 510.763 billion yuan, exceeding the threshold of 500 billion yuan for the first time, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent.
The output value of biomedical and high-performance medical devices, high-end equipment manufacturing and ships, and new-generation information technology industry increased by 16.8 percent, 11.6 percent, and 33.3 percent, respectively.
The city’s foreign trade expanded by 13.8 percent to $14.73 billion, the fifth highest growth in Jiangsu. The yearly exports stood at $9.531 billion, up 16 percent, the province’s third highest growth.
In 2018, the per capita disposable income of residents in Taizhou was 34,642 yuan, an increase of 9.0 percent over the previous year, and the growth rate ranked fifth in Jiangsu.
