Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, joined in a democratic life meeting of the Party branch that he is affiliated with. He discussed with other Party members the spirit of Wang Jicai, a late militia post sentry, as a sign of carrying forward the spirit of devotion and dedication in the new era.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that Party members should gain a deeper understanding of the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, uphold the Four Consciousnesses and Four Confidences, safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core.
He called on the Party members to carry forward the spirit of devotion and dedication in the new era by learning from the exemplary deeds of Wang Jicai and being willing to contribute to the country's prosperity, national rejuvenation, and people’s happiness so as to fulfill the communist people's initial mission.
Wang Jicai, former head of the militia post on Kaishan Island in east China's Jiangsu Province, died of sudden illness when on duty on July 27, 2018 after spending 32 years guarding an island post, assisted by his wife Wang Shihua.
The members of the Party branch studied the draft version of the regulations on the work of Party branch of the CPC and watched a documentary 32 Years of Guarding an Island, which is reproduced from the life story of Wang Jicai and his wife.
Guarding an island is an ordinary job, but 32 years of persistence allows us to see the greatness from the ordinariness and feel the spiritual power, said Lou.
The CPC Provincial Chief elaborated on his view of the advanced deeds of Wang Jicai, saying that Comrade Wang Jicai’s loyalty and devotion to the party and the country is manifested in the mission of fulfilling his duties with no regrets.
Each party member has a different division of labor, different positions, and different responsibilities, but they all work together for the common goal, Lou said, adding that as long as you work diligently to do your job well, you can contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream and reflect the value of dedication of the new era.
Combining the situation of Jiangsu's development, Lou Qinjian put forward ardent hopes for the young party members of the Party branch. He pointed out that political firmness can only be achieved with theoretical sobriety, adding that it is important to study the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era in compliance with the spirit of the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the work of Jiangsu so as to put them to practice in every aspect of the work.
He also stressed that the Party members should bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s call for the building of a strong transportation province, uphold the four consciousnesses and four confidences, safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core so as to provide a strong support for the high-quality development of the province, accelerate the construction of and lay a solid foundation for building a new Jiangsu.
The democratic life meeting, a long-time CPC tradition, saw Party members reflect on their own performance and criticize themselves and each other.
