Suzhou-based Daoxin Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd. opened the cross-border land transportation channel from Shanghai’s Yangshan Port to Hong Kong on February 20, the first of its kind in the county.
Garments imported from Italy first were transported by sea to the Yangshan Port, where they were then transported by trucks to Harbor City at Tsim Sha Tsui, which is a vast retail destination featuring hundreds of stores in Hong Kong.
Hu Rongyi, general manager of Daoxin Supply Chain Management, said the cross-border land transportation takes about the same time of air transportation with just half of the latter’s cost and is one week faster than through the sea with about the same shipping costs.
The successful delivery of the garments means that the cross-border land transport, launched by the logistics enterprise located in Suzhou Industrial Park, has made a milestone in its development. At the same time, this model will also be used in the Suxin truck transport route linking China and Europe, providing cross-border land transport services to companies in the Yangtze River Delta region to reach Europe, Central Asia, Vietnam and other countries. In the future, the cross-border land transport model will be further piloted in cities including Tianjin, Zhengzhou and Hangzhou.
