Lou Qinjian, secretary of the provincial party committee and the head of the Leading Group for Taiwan Affairs of the CPC JiangsuProvincial Committee,called on the province to resolutely integrate thoughts and actions into the central government's policy and the deployment of decision-making toward the Taiwan affairs, and make greater contributions to promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.He made the remarks when presiding over a meeting of the Provincial Leading Group for Taiwan Affairs on Monday.
President Xi Jinping’s speech at a gathering held early January in Beijing to commemorate the 40th anniversary of issuing Message to Compatriots in Taiwan comprehensively expounded the major policies and propositions for advancing the peaceful reunification of the motherland in the new era, and providing us with a fundamental basis for doing a good job in the work of Taiwan affairs, according to a statement released after the meeting.
We must thoroughly study and understand General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on the work of Taiwan affairs, enhance political stance, and unify thoughts and actions in accordance with the central government's policy and decision-making arrangements for Taiwan affairs, get more involved in and serve the integrated development of the cross-strait economic and social relations, give full play to the province's high-quality development and make new breakthroughs in the process of promoting the cross-strait relations and the development of a new Jiangsu, the statement said.
Greater efforts should be made to take the initiatives to consolidate the unique advantages of Jiangsu's work on Taiwan affairs, improve the level of industrial cooperation between Jiangsu and Taiwan, highlight the advantages of Jiangsu's industry, talents and major opportunities, and make good use of the cross-strait entrepreneurs summit and Kunshan’s platform as a test area to deepen cross-strait industrial cooperation, the statement said.
According to the meeting, Jiangsu will continue to optimize the development environment for Taiwanese businesses, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Taiwanese businessmen in accordance with the law, and help with the healthy development, transformation and upgrading of the Taiwan-funded enterprises, continue to expand the social exchanges between Jiangsu and Taiwan, and strive to deepen the exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, tourism, science and technology, and religion between Jiangsu and Taiwan.
In the meantime, Jiangsu will continue to promote preferential policies toward Taiwan-funded enterprises, adhere to systematic thinking and problem-oriented approaches, comprehensively promote the implementation of policy measures, do a good job in Taiwan affairs under the new situation, improve the operational mechanism of the provincial party committee's work leading group, and mobilize all aspects of social forces to come up with the overall synergy of the work, the statement said.
Present at the meeting were top provincial leaders Yang Yue, Guo Yuanqiang and Liu Chang.

Both sides should enhance the free flow of trade, connectivity in infrastructure, exchange of energy and resources, and shared industrial standards.
We sincerely hope all the compatriots in Taiwan treasure peace as much as they treasure their own eyes, and pursue national reunification as much as they pursue happiness.
The Chinese people's affairs should be decided by the Chinese people. The Taiwan question is China's internal affairs and allows no external interference as it concerns China's core interests and the national bond of the Chinese people.
