The innovation office in Kouvola, a city in southeastern Finland, and Xuzhou State-owned Assets Investment Management Group (Xuzhou Guotou Group) signed an agreement for strategic economic and trade cooperation on March 13.
The two sides reached a consensus on the establishment of the “China (Xuzhou) North Europe” cross-border industrial development integrated service platform and a North Europe Industrial Park. They also agreed to open the China-Europe freight train between Kouvola and Xuzhou in April this year.
Xuzhou and Huaihai Economic Zone are a huge market for imported goods, especially dairy products, fresh produce and alcoholic beverage from Europe. The planned service platform has secured support from authorities in Finland, Sweden and Norway as well as their embassies in China.
Li Xiaodong, secretary of the CPC Xuzhou Guotou Group Committee, said both Xuzhou and Kouvola have developed transportation network. The two sides will have all-round cooperation in establishing cargos distribution center at Xuzhou Huaihai International Land Port and Kouvola Logistics Center.
