After years of rail track-laying, the Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai’an-Yancheng railway was connected Tuesday morning to pave way for its operation at the end of this year.
The Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai’an-Yancheng railway is a east-west high-speed railway passing through Xuzhou, Suqian, Huai'an and Yancheng. The main line is 316.27 kilometers long and has a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It is one of the four vertical and four horizontal high-speed railway networks in Jiangsu and an important passage across the hinterland of northern Jiangsu.
Upon its operation, the railway will become another rail track supplementing the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and cut the travel time from north Jiangsu to Nanjing and Shanghai.
The Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge is the world's largest cable-stayed highway and railway bridge with its main bridge steel beam spanning 2,300 meters long.
The 23rd steel beam section of the main tower on the southern side of the No. 29 pier was recently erected. With 1211 meters of steel beam erected, more than half of the steel beams of the main bridge had been completed.
The technique of overall manufacturing erection of large-section steel truss beam was applied and a 1800-ton-frame beam crane was developed to ensure double cantilever erection.
The main span of the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge is scheduled for completion in September this year. The bridge is expected to open to traffic in June 2020.
