Governor Wu Zhenglong met with Laura McLeod-Katjirua, Governor of Khomas Region of Namibia Wednesday afternoon, and awarded her the "Jiangsu Province Honorary Resident" Certificate.
Wu Zhenglong expressed his warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to McLeod-Katjirua. He said that Governor McLeod-Katjirua is an old friend and good friend of the Jiangsu people, as is evidenced by her visit to Jiangsu for many times and her devotion and important contributions to the exchanges and cooperation between the two provinces. She deserves the title of Jiangsu Province Honorary Resident, Wu said.
Last year, President Xi Jinping and Namibian President Hage Geingob jointly announced the promotion of Sino-Namibian relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, laying the foundation for the deepening of cooperation between the two provinces and pointing out the direction, Wu Zhenglong said.
We will promote the construction of Jiangsu as the meeting point of the Belt and Road, unswervingly deepen reform and opening up, and make Jiangsu contribution to building a community of shared future, the governor said.
Wu Zhenglong noted that the Khomas Region is a large economic province in Namibia and enjoys solid and complementary cooperation with Jiangsu.
He hoped that both sides will further deepen the exchange of friendship cities, promote industrial capacity cooperation, expand cooperation in education, medical sports and agriculture, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, enhance the well-being of the two peoples, and promote mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation at a new starting point to a new height.
McLeod-Katjirua said that she was much honored to be awarded the honorary title of "Jiangsu Province Honorary Resident". She is very grateful to Jiangsu for attaching great importance to strengthening the friendly cooperation with the Khomas Region. She hoped that the Khomas Region will further deepen the friendship and strengthen the cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
