2nd Jiangsu Development Summit and 1st Global Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Convention kicked off Monday morning in Nanjing, capital of east China’s Jiangsu province. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, addressed the opening ceremony. Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, presided over the opening ceremony.
A thematic video raised the curtain for the event at 9 Monday morning at the Jiangsu Center for the Performing Arts.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the homegrown businesspersons from around the world for their support to Jiangsu’s development over the past decades.
He noted that we have witnessed 40 years of reform and opening up, and will usher in the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China and achieve the first goal of the two centenary goals next year.
The world is undergoing a critical period of major changes for the past century, and the comprehensive deepening of reforms and adjustment of economic structure have entered a critical stage, Lou said.
Jiangsu is now challenged with the tasks of making greater contribution to the country’s development and achieving new glories in the new era, he added.
Building a new Jiangsu with strong economy, prosperous people, beautiful environment and high degree of social civilization is the ardent hope of General Secretary Xi Jinping for Jiangsu, the CPC provincial chief said.
He noted that it is the historic mission entrusted to Jiangsu by the CPC central committee for the province to rank foremost in the country’s high quality development.
Lou Qinjian urged the province to bear in mind the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era, take liberal-minded approach, and strive for new development layout so as to ensure that the province will rank foremost in the country’s high quality development and turn the blueprint of constructing a new Jiangsu into a reality.
Lou remarked that Jiangsu will strive to get an uplift through the promotion of the Belt and Road initiative in its role of being the meeting point and integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
The CPC Provincial chief pledged that the provincial authorities will give full play to the uplift of the international abilities of the homegrown talents, launch reforms on scientific and technological mechanisms, promote educational reform and boost the transformation of government functions so as to provide talent support for the province’s high quality development and offer the best possible services for investors and entrepreneurs.
The Jiangsu Development Forum was held soon after the opening ceremony. Distinguished guests from home and abroad delivered speeches.
Retired provincial leaders Li Xueyong, Zhang Lianzheng, Jiang Dingzhi and Chen Huanyou attended the opening ceremony.
