The Global Cities Index and Outlook, issued by management consulting firm A.T. Kearney, reveals the world’s top-performing cities and those with the most potential. In the latest edition of the Global Cities Index, Jiangsu’s three cities -Nanjing, Suzhou and Wuxi - ranked 86th, 95th and 124th, respectively. This is also the first time for Suzhou to rise to the top 100 cities.
China has 26 cities that made to the two rankings about which cities are the world’s leaders and which cities are the frontrunners for the future.
The Global Cities Index measures 27 metrics across five dimensions, namely business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement. New York City kept the top spot for three years straight. Beijing ranked 9th and has significantly closed gap by one-third than in 2015 with Singapore, which took the sixth place this year. Suzhou has also shortened the gap quickly with world’s top cities thanks to vibrant business activities, especially the ever-growing freight volume.
