Jiangsu braces for travel peak during Dragon Boat Festival

  Transport authorities in Jiangsu province are gearing up for the travel peak during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday that will last from June 6 to 9.

  The bulk flow of passengers from Jiangsu will go for sightseeing or visiting relatives during the festival, according to the railway authority.

  The peak of the railway travel is expected to come on June 7th. 

  The Nanjing Railway Station will set into operation 25 peak train sets during the festival while weekend special trains will be added to the train routes heading for Huangshan, Shanghai and Xuzhou. 

  42 train sets will be added to the fleets heading for Xuzhou, Shanghai, Yancheng and Anhui. 

  The coach terminal in Nanjing will put into operation nearly 1000 buses on June 7th with Jintan, Xuyi, Zhangjiagang and Nantong as major destinations. 

  Over 100 million Chinese are expected to travel across China and overseas during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, Ctrip, China's popular online travel agency, said on Wednesday.

  Ctrip said in its latest report that holidaymakers have booked tours to over 800 destinations across 92 countries and regions through its platform during the holiday from June 7 to 9.

  The Dragon Boat Festival falls on June 7 this year, making a three-day public holiday that lasts from June 7 to 9.
