The annual senior high school entrance exam has got underway across the province. 51,000 9th graders in Nanjing started on Saturday to sit for the exam in 1750 test rooms at 128 test venues.
31000 test-takers in Nanjing will be admitted to senior high schools this year, a gain of 3000 from a year ago.
The number of test-takers increased from 47,000 last year to 51,000 this year.
The remaining test-takers will be admitted to vocational schools if their applications meet the demand.
The senior high school entrance exam also got underway in Xuzhou, Suqian, Taizhou and Huai’an on Saturday.
The 9th graders in Wuxi, Nantong, Yancheng, Yangzhou, Suzhou, Changzhou and Zhenjiang started to sit for the enrollment exam on Sunday.
