The 9th Jiangsu Book Fair ended Sunday in Suzhou city. The four-day event was sponsored by the provincial government and undertaken by the provincial department of publicity.
The book fair recorded 5.09 million yuan of sales and registered 98000 visitors over a four-day period.
The hustle and bustle of book enthusiasts was seen queuing up here and there in front of the cashier’s desks. Baby strollers were turned into shopping carts.
The book fair not only ignited the enthusiasm of the readers, but also became a platform for exchanges in the publishing industry as is evidenced by the dazzling exhibition of digital publishing, specialty bookstores, cultural creativity and many others.
The report on the reading habits of Jiangsu residents was released at the book fair.
]The data shows that the comprehensive reading rate of residents in Jiangsu Province in 2018 was 89.93%, which was higher than the national average. The per capita paper books and e-book readings of the province’s residents reached 5.49 and 7.48 respectively, both of which showed an upward trend. The per capita reading period stood at 61.75 minutes and 50.3% of the people read more than 1 hour a day
