A symphony concert participated by over 1,000 musicians was held on Sunday in Suzhou. The concert, named “Me and My Motherland” is part of the activities of Suzhou industrial park to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China.
The Chinese national flag was shining in the fully packed Suzhou Olympic Sports Center Sunday night. From “Ode to Red Flag”, to “Song of the Yangtze River”, from “Defending the Yellow River” to “Ode to the Motherland”, five conductors from three different generations led four symphony orchestras, including Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, and nearly 1,000 musicians to bring an unprecedented symphony feast to over 6,000 audience in Suzhou.
Sponsored by the China Symphony Development Foundation and hosted by the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, this concert is a part of the series of activities that the Suzhou Industrial Park held for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China.
The concert showcased the glorious journey, great achievements and valuable experience that People’s Republic of China has been through in the past 70 years, especially the last 40 years after the reform and opening-up policy.
As one of the three great troupes in Suzhou, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra has developed into a benchmark against which troupes throughout the country look up to over the past 3 years, and has put on performances at world renowned music halls frequently, showing the world a confident Suzhou.
