Guo Wenqi, member of the Standing Committee and Director of Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, met Tuesday in Nanjing with a Laos government delegation headed by Major General Kongthong Phongvichith, Deputy Minister of Public Security.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Guo Wenqi welcomed the Laos delegation for its visit to Jiangsu.
He said that Laos is China's friendly neighbor, adding that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 58 years ago, the bilateral relations have developed in an all-round way and brought tangible benefits to the two peoples.
In recent years, Jiangsu has established good cooperative relations with Laos, as is evidenced by the steady advancement of the exchanges and cooperation in various fields, Guo said.
Jiangsu will make efforts to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, boost closer ties through people-to-people and government-to-government exchanges at the regional level, and promote pragmatic cooperation in the areas of economic and trade investment, science and technology education, cultural tourism, and youth exchanges so as to make new contributions to the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Kongthong Phongvichith said that Jiangsu's development experience in various fields of economy and society has important reference significance for Laos. Jiangsu enterprises are welcome to invest in Laos. Laos is also looking forward to further expanding cooperation with Jiangsu and pushing the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides to a new height.
