Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, went on an inspection tour to Changzhou city on Friday to learn about the promotion of workplace safety and the protection of the ecological environment along the Yangtze River.
Wu Zhenglong said at a symposium that it is important to learn and implement General Secretary’s important speeches on workplace safety by drawing lessons from the deadly chemical plant blast in Xiangshui County that claimed 78 lives and injured more than 600.
He urged relevant departments to adhere to the bottom-line thinking, strengthen the awareness of risk prevention, and take a serious and responsible attitude to the launch of special programs to address workplace safety, strengthen the rectification and regulation over chemicals and hazardous chemicals, industrial and commercial trade, transportation, building construction, urban gas supply, solid waste and hazardous waste disposal, and fire prevention in order to eliminate major risks and hidden dangers.
He asked the relevant departments to cooperate with the inspection and supervision team sent to Jiangsu by the State Council so that the political task of seriousness is accomplished at a high quality level.
He stressed that the special programs to address workplace safety is an important political task entrusted to us by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and also a supervision on workplace safety in Jiangsu from the height of politics and responsibility.
Wu Zhenglong inspected a pumping station, some chemical plants and watercourse in the Binjiang Economic Development Zone in Changzhou.
He emphasized the need to fully implement the new development concept, adhere to ecological priority and green development, focus on improving the ability to find and solve problems, improve pollution prevention and control capabilities, and promote the optimization and transformation of the entire industry so as to strive for greater achievements in ecological environment.
