East China’s Jiangsu province has unveiled its latest regulations on ecological environment monitoring to become the first local legislation of its kind in the country.
The Regulations on Ecological Environment Monitoring in Jiangsu Province will be taken effect on May 1.
The Regulations clarify and standardize the responsibilities and obligations of relevant authorities, monitoring agencies, monitoring personnel, pollutant discharge units and other relevant subjects with a view to promoting the implementation of monitoring work according to law, monitoring management and data legally and effectively.
The "Regulations" stipulates that environmental monitoring agencies and personnel tampering with and falsifying monitoring data will have their illegal gains confiscated by the competent eco-environmental authorities and fined by the eco-environment monitoring agencies.
The officials in chare shall be given a warning and fined, and if the illegal behavior reaches a certain level, the qualification certificate will be revoked.
