Jiangsu doctors and nurses return home in triumph

137 doctors and nurses Jiangsu sent to Hubei province to help contain the novel coronavirus epidemic or COVID-19 returned home in triumph on Sunday.


The medical team that returned home on Sunday consists of intensive care doctors and nurses.

They are the last batch of medical workers returning to Jiangsu after completing their anti-epidemic mission in Hubei.

They arrived in Wuhan on February 2 to take over the Wuhan Tongji Hospital Sino-French New City Branch where they cured 77 critically ill patients and patients in severe conditions.

On March 30, they were tasked with the new mission of taking over an ICU ward of Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital.

During their 70-day stay in Wuhan, they cured 86 critically ill patients and patients in severe conditions and launched 6700 training sessions.

China started on March 16 the orderly withdrawal of medical staff from Hubei Province in a sign that the epidemic had been brought under control in the country.


Jiangsu sent 2804 doctors and nurses to Hubei to help contain the epidemic, which is the countrys largest medical contingent sent to Hubei.

The first batch of 709 medical workers from Jiangsu returned to Nanjing on March 17.

The second batch of 350 doctors and nurses returned on March 19.

The third batch of 139 doctors and nurses returned to Jiangsu on March 29.

China sent 346 medical teams and more than 42,600 medical workers to help with the medical treatment in Hubei province, according to the National Health Commission.
