15 foreign trade firms in Jiangsu province have been added to the national list of foreign trade transformation and upgrading bases, according to a ranking released by the Ministry of Commerce recently.
The national foreign trade transformation and upgrading base is an industrial agglomeration that integrates production and export functions supported by the state and local governments.
The newly approved foreign trade transformation and upgrading bases added to the province’s number of 38 in total.
They include the four bases in Xinwu district of Wuxi city and 11 bases in the economic development zone in Nanjing.
The foreign trade transformation and upgrading bases in Jiangsu cover traditional advantageous industries such as agriculture and textiles, as well as strategic emerging industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing and biomedicine.
In recent years, Jiangsu's foreign trade bases have continuously increased investment in technological innovation by launching more than 120 national R&D institutions and more than 400 various public service platforms.
The Provincial Department of Commerce organized 1,500 foreign trade bases to carry out cross-border e-commerce docking activities to promote digital transformation.
In the next step, Jiangsu will step up its efforts to promote the integrated development of industrial trade in foreign trade bases, continuously cultivate new advantages in export competition such as brands, technical standards, and public services so as to enhance the bases’ demonstration and leading role.
