A railway and highway travel peak is expected during the Qingming Festival that will fall between April 3 and 5, the provincial department of transportation and public security said on Thursday.
Passenger cars of less than seven seats will have their tolls scraped during the three-day holiday, the transport authority said.
The flow of vehicles will range from 3.31 million to 3.4 million on a daily basis, up 5% to 8%, according to estimates.
The largest flow of passengers will come on the first day with 3.5 million vehicles to hit the road.
Staggered travel periods will be imposed on major bridges across the Yangtze River such as the Baguazhou, the Jiangyin, the Sutong and the Chongqi Yangtze River Bridges.
Vehicles carrying hazardous chemical products will be barred from entering highways during the holiday.
In the meantime, passengers are advised to continue with the measures for epidemic prevention and control by wearing masks, maintaining social distance and avoiding gathering.
When entering transport terminals, toll gates and service areas, they must show their health code app on their mobile phone.
