East China’s Jiangsu Province has launched more than 1,000 major agricultural and rural projects since the beginning of this year to have promoted the production of important agricultural and sideline products such as grain and hog while made up for the weaknesses of industrial development and rural infrastructure.
Siyang County recently put into trial operation Huaxun Agricultural Group, a major agricultural and rural project at the provincial level.
Targeting the huge market potential of hypsizygus marmoreus, Siyang County has invested 420 million yuan in the project to build 4 production plants and auxiliary facilities. The project is expected to produce 7,800 tons of hypsizygus marmoreus per year.
The project has increased production capacity through process innovation and equipment customization, and expanded sales through packaging and preservation technology upgrades.
Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has strengthened cultivated land protection and seed industry innovation during the implementation of major agricultural and rural projects.
Jing'an Town of Peixian County recently put into use a newly-built pepper seedling laboratory, and at the same time is preparing to build a new experimental base for molecular marker-assisted breeding.
These two projects are expected to better control the temperature and humidity of pepper breeding, reduce the impact of bad weather on seed production, and improve the research and development efficiency of new varieties.
As of the end of June, Jiangsu had started construction of 1,392 new agricultural and rural major projects by injecting 77.6 billion yuan of investment. 138 of the projects have been put into production.
