East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development set forth in this year’s government work report. 

The last section of the roof was poured Sunday in the Nanquan section of the Taihu Lake Tunnel of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Southern Expressway, the longest under-construction lake tunnel in China, marking the completion of the main construction of the Nanquan section of the Taihu Tunnel.

The 10.79-kilometer Taihu Lake Tunnel is a key control project for the Changzhou-Wuxi section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Southern Expressway.

Upon its opening to traffic at the end of this year, the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Southern Expressway will become a supplement highway between Shanghai and Nanjing, which is of great significance to promote the development of cities along the line of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou and accelerate the integration of the Yangtze River Delta.

In Changzhou, the first pipe of the Huangshan River culvert was connected on Sunday making it the largest pipe jacking project with the largest inner diameter and the longest distance in the history of water conservancy projects in Changzhou.This pipe is 4 meters high and 413 meters long.Each pipe section is 2.5 meters long and more than 160 pipe sections make a pipe.

Consisting of two underwater pipelines, the Huangshan River culvert is a supporting project of the Xinmeng River Extension and Dredging Project, a major national water conservancy project. The project is expected to be completed and put into use at the end of October.
