Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, sent festive greetings to teachers ahead of the Teachers' Day, which falls on September 10, during his visit to schools in Xuzhou on Thursday.
When visiting Longcheng Primary School in Peixian County, Lou Qinjian made detailed inquiry into the school’s enrollment, teacher development and the response to the nationwide "double reduction" policy which aims to relieve students of the burden of excessive homework and reduce the need for after-school tutoring.
In the teacher's office, Lou Qinjian talked with the teachers and extended his holiday greetings to everyone. He said that primary school is an important stage for children to lay the foundation. He hopes that teachers will better follow the laws of education and the growth of children, pay attention to cultivating students' curiosity and good study habits, and promote their all-around development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education.
During his inspection tour in Peixian County Senior High School, Lou made favorable comment on the school’s efforts and performances achieved in recent years, adding that he appreciates and respects their hard work and devotion and emphasized the importance of secondary school education.
The CPC provincial chief said that the high school stage is at a critical time for young people to form a correct outlook on the world, life, and values.
He hoped teachers must be good guides for students' growth while imparting subject knowledge, attach importance to ideological and political education, guide students to establish lofty ideals, family and country feelings and cultural self-confidence, and become qualified builders and successors of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
When presiding over a symposium at Peixian County Senior High School, Lou Qinjian said Jiangsu has made remarkable progress in the education sector in recent years by following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches, instructions and requirements during his inspection tour in Jiangsu, respond to the complaints and demands of the people, and reflect on the problems existing in the development of education in Jiangsu.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that in the economic and social system, education comes in a basic, overall, and leading position, adding that the priority of education development and investment cannot be overstated.
He asked local party committees and governments at all levels to implement the General Secretary’s important instructions and requirements on Jiangsu’s work, implement the spirit of the 10th Plenary Session of the 13th Provincial Party Committee, give priority to the development of education from a strategic height, pay more attention to education, make in-depth research on education, increase education investment, promote the modernization of education so as to better meet the needs of the times, development needs and people's expectations.
Lou Qinjian called for greater measures to deepen education reform, highlight problem orientation, grasp the law of education development and talent growth, strengthen the system and integration of education reform, and further expand the results of education reform.
He also asked party committees and governments at all levels to adhere to high-quality standards, promote the high-quality and balanced development of general high school education, focus on improving higher vocational education, highlight the development of secondary vocational education, improve the inclusive preschool education system, and continue to create more high-quality education supplies.
