The Mid-Autumn Festival saw an upsurge in the number of travelers in east China’s Jiangsu province on Tuesday.

Starting at 3:00 Tuesday afternoon, the province’s highways began to see an increasingly large number of vehicles. The traffic police temporarily closed the toll gates and allowed vehicles to temporarily use some sections of the emergency lane. As of 4:00 pm, the expressway exits across the province recorded 1.17 million vehicles in total traffic flow. The railway also braced for travel peak on Tuesday. Nanjing Railway Station and Nanjing South Railway Station sent of about 190,000 passengers while bus stations in Nanjing sent off about 8,500 passengers. Coach terminals across the province opened additional ticket windows and security check channels to ensure that regular epidemic prevention and control were in place.
