The 31st medical team Jiangsu sent to Zanzibar set off on Tuesday to start their one-year stint on the east African island.
The 11-year-old son of general surgeon Zhu Shajun silently helped his father pack his bags and wish him a successful mission and return safely.
"I am very proud of my dad going to Africa, because he represents Jiangsu Province," said Son of Zhu Shajun.
The 31st Jiangsu Medical Team to Zanzibar was jointly established by Soochow University Affiliated Hospital and Nantong University Affiliated Hospital. Member of the medical team have been trained for more than a year.
"We go to provide clinical medical care and at the same time instruct local doctors. In this way we will contribute to their medical cause," said Yin Jun, Deputy Head of the 31st Jiangsu Medical Team to Zanzibar.
Zanzibar is in short supply of medical supplies, and the team members allocated the limited baggage allowance to various equipment and supplies as much as possible.
"We set off draped in the national flag. We look forward to returning safe and sound. We will get together again,"said Li Hualei, Member of 31st Jiangsu Medical Team to Zanzibar.
