East China’s Jiangsu province has fulfilled the goals for rural housing improvement in the past five years, according to a press conference held Thursday by the provincial government.
As of the end of 2020, Jiangsu has renovated 229,000 rural dilapidated houses and completed the tasks in the poverty alleviation campaign.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Jiangsu will continue to renovate dilapidated houses for low-income people in rural areas by encouraging localities to adopt methods such as unified construction of rural collective public rental houses, repairs and reinforcements of existing idle public houses for rural households with special difficulties so as to ensure housing safety.
As of the end of last year, Jiangsu had built 446 rural villages with distinctive Jiangsu characteristics, covering all towns and villages.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Jiangsu will implement a five-year action plan to improve the rural human settlement environment by laying a focus on promoting the revolution in rural toilets, sewage treatment, and overall improvement of the village appearance.
