East China’s Jiangsu province has gone all out to intensify efforts in addressing wage arrears for migrant workers and safeguard the rights and interests of the migrant workers.

To tackle wage arrears for migrant workers, relevant government departments at all levels in Jiangsu have opened complaints hotlines and launched wechat apps so as to ensure that migrant workers can lodge their complaints at ease and the government will impose penalties on those who refuse to pay the migrant workers.Since November last year, Wuxi has implemented reporting and complaint telephone calls and online reception for round-the-clock responses to ensure that emergencies are dealt with as soon as possible. The local authorities have recovered 19.83 million yuan in arrears for 1,716 employees.

Authorities in Huai’an city have also intensified their efforts to claim on-time and full wage payment for migrant workers.

In the past two days, Zhang Xuhui, who was working in Suzhou, and his fellow workers received transfer checks from the judge. The company owes him and more than 40 co-workers their wages due to a broken capital chain.
