East China’s Jiangsu province has launched job fairs to ensure that the local enterprises can recruit as many workers as possible to boost industrial recovery in the lunar new year.
Some 100 former fishermen in Sihong County were visiting a job fair on Wednesday. Exclusively launched for the ex-fishermen, the job fair saw dozens of enterprises offer more than 200 job vacancies.
"I am specialized in welding, I signed up for the recruitment today and I am hopeful of landing a job with decent wages," said Xu Yiguang, a job seeker.
"The salary depends on the specific type of work and the monthly salary is between 5,500 yuan and 9,000 yuan," said Liu Junhua, the general manager of Jiangsu Ainoli Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd.
Guannan County launched "immersive" recruitment by organizing more than 500 former migrant workers to visit key enterprises to apply for jobs, observe the production process on the spot, and learn about work intensity, salary and benefits. Nearly 150 people immediately filled out the letter of intent.
Government officials and business leaders in Jintan District of Changzhou City recommended job vacancies at online job fairs, attracting nearly 180 thousand job seekers.
Many companies have raised wages. The average monthly salary of workers recruited after the Spring Festival in Wuxi is 5,528 yuan, the fastest growth rate in the past five years.
The average monthly salary of newly recruited employees in Nantong City varies from 5,000 yuan to 7,000 yuan, and some high-end positions are offered with an annual salary of one million yuan.
Job vacancies have expanded from traditional electronic appliances, textiles and clothing to new types of jobs such as online sales and new material research and development.
"The new round of technological transformation has greatly increased the demand for high-end talents. In the new year we have a relatively large demand for employees in both quantities and qualities," said Wang Mingsheng, the head of recruitment of a Company in Jiangsu.
Human resources and social security departments in Changzhou and Suzhou have sent 300 thousand pieces of recruitment information to major labor-exporting counties in Anhui, Henan, and Shaanxi, and provided free training to migrant workers coming to Jiangsu from outside of the province.
"We must work hard so long as we choose to work in this factory. We thank them for providing us with employment opportunities," said a migrant worker.
