The CNOOC Yancheng Green Energy Port has completed the concrete pouring of the bearing platforms for six LPG tanks with the largest single-tank capacity in the world, paving the way for the construction of the tank itself.

As the foundation of the storage tank, the bearing platform is an important part of the storage tank structure.

With each measuring a diameter of 100.6 meters, the six bearing platforms requires a pouring of 70,860 cubic meters of concrete, which is equivalent to 30 standard Olympic swimming pools.

“In response to the low temperature environment in winter, the project team has innovated the temperature control and anti-cracking technology of mass concrete, and reasonably arranged temperature control sensors to achieve intelligent and precise temperature control. We adjusted the pouring area to a 45-degree symmetrical distribution, which has greatly reduced the length of construction joints, effectively prevented cracks, and improved construction quality,” said Ren Jianxun, Deputy Manager of Expansion Department of CNOOC Yancheng "Green Energy Port" Project.

The CNOOC Yancheng "Green Energy Port" project under construction is a key planning project for the construction and interconnection of the national natural gas production, supply, storage and marketing system.

By building 10 large LNG storage tanks upon its operation in 2023, the project will be able to process 6 million tons of LNG per year, contributing to 28.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

“Yancheng Green Energy Port is responsible for receiving, storing and exporting LNG. It also has functions such as cold energy utilization, gas power generation and gas hydrogen production, making it a comprehensive green and clean energy supply station and an important hub,” said Li Feng, General Manager of CNOOC Yancheng "Green Energy Port" Project.

6 million tons of liquefied natural gas is equivalent to 8.5 billion cubic meters of gaseous natural gas, which can meet the province's civil gas demand for about 28 months and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 28.5 million tons.
