East China’s Jiangsu province will make continuous efforts to promote railway construction by following the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the decisions of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government on railway construction and development, according to a statement released after a meeting of the Provincial Railway Construction Leading Group held on Tuesday.
Xu Kunlin, governor of Jiangsu and leader of the provincial railway construction leading group, spoke highly of Jiangsu's achievements in railway construction, and pointed out that railway, as the main artery and key infrastructure of the national economy, is a symbol of promoting the modernization of new Jiangsu.
He asked relevant departments across the province to implement the spirit of the 14th Provincial Party Congress, seize the important golden period for the accelerated development of Jiangsu railway construction, accurately grasp the goal of serving the whole country and build a new development pattern, and highlight the promotion of railway construction as the top priority of the construction of transportation modernization demonstration zones.
The Governor required further efforts to plan the railway network in a scientific and rational way, improve the level of overall development and the ability of independent development, follow the rules of railway construction, plan and construct high-speed railway network, intercity railway network in urban agglomeration, metropolitan area railway network and freight railway network from a high starting point.
He demanded that the new development concept be implemented in the whole field and process of railway construction, operation and management, maintain a moderate investment scale, speed up the progress of project construction, and carefully polish the brand image of Jiangsu’s railway construction.
Xu Kunlin demanded further efforts to strengthen organizational leadership, strive to create a good environment for railway construction, promote high-quality and sustainable development of railway construction, and take practical actions to welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
